Today we’d like to introduce you to Jakob Robinson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jakob. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Soul Shake Down Studios back in 2016 as a side project while I was in another band. As time passed, new relationships were made, old relationships dissipated and now Soul Shake Down Studios is a fully functioning Music Production Team and my main vision. As of now, the team consists of Myself (Founder/Producer/Instrumentalist), Noelan Allen (Co-Founder/Producer/Creative Director), Andrew Dyer (Vocalist/Vocal Engineer), AB (Marketing Adviser), and JD Slightworkbeats (Producer). Combined, we work with over 20 of the most talented artists in the San Diego area. Of course, certain artists take priority as their sound and fan base grows. As of now, “C. Wager” is our main focus as well as a few others, but regardless of the artist, we fully commit ourselves to any individual and genre that is willing to come in and make something incredible. As of 2020 SoulShakeDownStudios.com will be fully up and running to give anyone access to listen to our content, check out more of our back story and buy beats straight from the producer’s page. We’re very excited to start the new year with a new team to make our mark.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Well, certain aspects of this process such as meeting team members and working on the image have been remarkably easy, Now that I’m consistently working with artists on a certain level of professionalism, it’s a lot easier to keep the business moving forward. That being said, there have been struggles along the way. One that stands out specifically was shortly after I had quit my band and accepted an offer to play bass for a live hip hop group across the country for a 30 day tour, Fortunately we had worked out a way to bring (artist) C. Wager along and performed from Brooklyn, NY. all the way to El Paso, TX. with many spots in between. The ability to travel the country and develop connections with our audience was a critical move for us but from the very beginning of the tour, I noticed a small rash on my hands that slowly spread and drastically worsened over the next 30 days. A combination of playing every show, driving the bus every night, and multiple misdiagnoses from various doctors, I developed borderline sepsis. The day after we returned from the tour, I was in the ER for three days in excruciating pain. The doctors went on to tell me that if I had spent another day on the road I likely would have passed away from the infection. After that I realized how much this life means to me, now a day in and day out, all I do is work on my music, production and image for the SSD Studios Team.

Soul Shake Down Studios is a place where artists are allowed to be themselves with no judgment while striving for excellence in a professional environment. We aim to always encourage each artist to push the envelope in their artistic pursuits while providing them a product that represents them to the fullest extent. We provide the ability to play nearly any instrument from scratch and truly make you a track that is 100% your own.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Very soon SoulShakeDownStudios.com will be up and running. Which is exciting for me because anyone with an internet connection will have full access to all of the services we offer, This includes custom beats, tuning for specific projects, mixing and mastering, and full catalogs of our previous work, With personal access to every team member, there will never be a question of what the artist wants to be done. We are currently in the process of sending beats to multiple record teams, also have a forever growing list of artists that come into the studio daily. Needless to say, we are incredibly prepared to continue making all types of music and continue striving to ever improve our overall sound and production.
