Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Paris and Claudia Huizar.
Jamie and Claudia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We met the first day of college at San Diego State University and have been best friends ever since. We were both in the public relations program, so we had the opportunity to spend plenty of time together and get to know each other’s work ethic. We always used to talk about starting a PR business, so a year after we graduated, we decided we were going to take the plunge. We both quit our jobs and started Luxuria Public Relations in 2013. It was the best yet scariest decision we made!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When we started our business in 2013, we were very young and although we had a lot of valuable public relations experience, we didn’t have a lot of business development experience. We had to learn how to do sales, management, accounting (Claudia is our in-house bookkeeper), compliance, the whole nine.
Since we were so young when we started Luxuria Public Relations, we didn’t have many peers facing similar challenges as business owners. We didn’t have a network of people who could relate to us, so we were pretty much on our own. Over time, we were fortunate enough to have established mentors.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Luxuria Public Relations – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Last year we secured our first international client Distroller USA, and it has been such a great experience for us.
We’ve developed a multi-channel campaign for them that details media relations, social media, community relations, influencer relations and crisis communications. In the next few years, we would like the opportunity to work on more large-scale public relations campaigns both nationally and in other markets. We love a good challenge!
