Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelle Cassiano.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Janelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As long as I can remember, I have been intrigued by design. The angles and details of old architectural buildings, high fashion, and the delicate hues of nature always guide my imagination.
Hi there! I’m the designer, founder and CVO (chief visionary officer) behind Cassiano Designs. I’m so grateful that I get to be creative every day, designing and creating jewelry and accessories. The inspiration to design, evolve and grow comes from a creative drive that I have had since I was a young girl.
I started my jewelry adventure in 2015. It started partly as a creative outlet with playing and learning how to make wire-wrapped jewelry for myself. From the start, I was in “designer heaven.” As I shared my designs, I realized that I had a vision and style that was loved by many. I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to focus my time and attention to researching and starting my brand, Cassiano Designs. In the beginning, I started and still host in-home jewelry shows, hold trunk shows at boutiques and attend events which gives me the opportunity to meet and connect with customers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As an entrepreneur, I have learned so much along my journey. I do believe though that the roadblocks I’ve experienced as well as the challenges I’ve faced, have impacted me positively, even if it was hard to see at the time. If it was easy, I don’t think I would appreciate the small wins quite as much.
My vision for the brand is what drives my work, and meeting those small goals along the way keeps me going. Designing and making jewelry is incredibly rewarding. I feel so lucky to get to create these beautiful pieces every day. The business side is a constant learning experience, and like many entrepreneurs, I feel like I wear a hundred hats. It can feel overwhelming at times, but I wouldn’t change it. As a single mom to two teenage boys, I love that they get to see me building a business and doing something I love. I believe that part of the journey is embracing the struggles you inevitably will face, reaffirming your commitment to succeeding, and digging in with gusto.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Cassiano Designs story. Tell us more about it.
Cassiano Designs is known for its classic design sensibility, that is timeless, but also on-trend. The joy I get from designing a piece and then seeing someone love that design, is what inspires me to do what I do. Women who wear my designs are beautiful inside and out – stylish, independent, confident, and successful. The modern woman isn’t just my client; she’s my inspiration.
Most of my designs are handcrafted with .925 Sterling Silver. You will also see pieces in Gold. These Gold pieces are either 14k, 18k or 24k vermeil over Sterling. The Rose Gold is 18k over Sterling. I use lots of semi-precious stones as well. Labradorite, Amethyst, Chalcedony, Black Onyx and Topaz are just a few of my favorite stones to use. The cubic zirconia gems I use are also of the highest quality, so they will never look “cloudy.” Quality is very important to me, and I keep that at the forefront of all of my designs.
I also carry unique key rings, gorgeous silk scarves, and tote bags as part of my seasonal collections. I want my clients to know that I am here for all of their accessory needs.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
With everything, I believe there is always a bit of luck. But there’s no such thing really as an overnight success.
There’s so much hard work that happens behind the scenes in any business. I think the key is to be confident in your vision, and hold onto that especially when the going gets tough. That’s where the real work begins.
