Meet Jason Claytor of Infinite Fitness in La Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Claytor.

Jason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for fitness has always been there. When I was a kid I used to eat canned spinach in hopes of channeling my inner Popeye, and my favorite superheroes were (still are) the Hulk and the Flash. I had sand-filled weights when I was six and convinced my mom to change my birth certificate so I could get a gym membership at age 11. Now I’m about to be 40 and I’m still as passionate as I’ve ever been about fitness,

My professional career started in 2004 as a Personal Trainer at 24 Hour Fitness. I can still remember my 1st client and 1st session. Since then, I’ve trained well over 15,000 sessions, and 100’s of clients. I’ve always known that one day I would have my own Gym. I’m beyond thankful to be my own boss and to be doing what I love on a day to day to basis.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I took a swing at Gym Ownership and being an Independent Trainer back in 2008 and 2009 and failed. I ended up going back to 24 Hour Fitness and worked my way into management. I was a fitness manager at the El Cajon 24 Hour for three years and then moved to Crunch in El Cajon as Fitness Manager for 1 year. Went Independent again the year after that and now here I am!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
