Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Betts.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started taking pictures with disposable cameras when I was 13 years old. Never took it seriously until one of my friends got killed. I had took some pictures of him before he died and his family used those for his obituary. After that, I was doing photography as a hobby until one day someone asked me how much did I charge.
Never gotten paid to do a photo shoot, I charged them $30, and they loved it, so I continued to do photo shoots but started to get bored with it and was interested in doing film. I start to study film a had landed my first video shoot from an artist in San Diego, was nervous, scared an all of the above. But it was something I really wanted to do so I was determined to do it an do the best I could. Now five years plus, I’ve featured in big projects like music videos movies and now commercials
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Never will be a smooth road in film especially starting out. Had to deal with angry and picky clients, investing in equipment that may or may not pay off. Doing this profession takes a lot of faith and dedication because people don’t believe in your dream until you really do and just having a camera and being good is one thing but interacting with people is another thing if you have both you will go far.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Go Getta Visions – what should we know?
First, the name of my company is GO GETTA VISIONS is because we try and capture the client’s vision and make it come to life. Back story the name came from my clothing line as well which was Go Getta Hustlaz. But anyone can pick up a camera and shoot, but we interact without clients an most importantly try an help other filmmakers along the way that has a passion for this field.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Well I owe a lot to my self for sticking in there and never giving up but I’ve had a few people help me along the way like Nick Bossin, Lv, big wy, digital gym, Lokey Inkworks Dejon sheers just to name a few they either gave advice or put me in positions to better the company and thank you to every single supporter because without them this company would be nothing.
