Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazell Byars.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jazell. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I like to say that Jazzie Naturals was birthed out of the love of jewelry. I have always been interested in jewelry and particularly fashion jewelry. I was first introduced to having a jewelry line while being a consultant for a direct sales company. I put my heart and soul into learning the ins and out while representing the brand. So imagine my surprise when I received an email that they closed their company. So I decided to research starting my line. And let me tell you, I was overwhelmed with information. But I’m thankful for close friends and mentors that helped to guide me in the right direction.
I’m two years in and I have to tell you every moment of this journey has been worth it. A joy of mine is researching new handmade pieces to add to the line. Especially pieces from Kenya and other countries. I have recently added another service by providing my handmade pieces in the J.N Exclusive collection.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
By no means has this been a smooth ride. I’m the first one in my family to step out and start a business. So a lot of what I have learned thus far has been through research, research, research and amazing mentors. But underneath it all is a sense of grit. I decided to commit to the process of learning and implementing the information. I have two amazing kids and a supportive husband. So learning to schedule my time and family obligations has been challenging at times.
A lesson I had to learn quickly was inventory control. I have been blessed to have consistent clients due to word of mouth and amazing collaborations. But I did have challenges to overcome to provide for photoshoots, orders, etc. I’m thankful to have learned systems to help run my day to day tasks.
Please tell us about your business.
Jazzie Naturals offers bold, unique, urban jewelry pieces for the fashion forward woman. The brand is a published fashion jewelry line. It specializes in providing beautiful pieces for photoshoots, red carpet events and to add to a woman’s everyday style.
I started Jazzie Naturals to create a voice in the fashion jewelry arena. My goal has always been to research breathtaking pieces that have a high end look without the large price tag.
What sets Jazzie Naturals apart is that we have created a tribe of women who love to have jewelry pieces that make a statement. If people turn their heads when you walk in wearing a Jazzie Naturals piece, then we did our job. It truly is more than just jewelry. By wearing a piece it can add that extra touch to your style.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
One of Jazzie Naturals proudest moments was our first collaboration for publication in Picton Magazine. This was an amazing experience that taught me the different positions needed to produce such a creative project. I truly thank every photographer, model, stylist, and MUA that I had the pleasure of working with so far. And believe that this is just the beginning.
