Meet Jeanine Crawford of Love Me 2 Times Vintage in Lakeside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanine Crawford.

Jeanine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Being creative is very therapeutic for me, I’ll see something that inspires me and my mind can not rest until I execute that idea into reality. From painting furniture to repurposing vintage jewelry, it all helps me escape from reality and get lost into an abyss of my imagination My side business Love me 2 Times Vintage is the direct byproduct of my unending need to be creative mixed with my obsession for antiques and vintage home decor that I have collected along the way.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Finding the right outlet to sell my crafts have been difficult. I’ve sold on Etsy, various stores and flea markets around San Diego. It’s been a challenge to be able to juggle my full-time business RKC Construction, Love Me 2 Times Vintage while being a mom of four. So, for now, I run the East County Junk Trail which allows me to sell my stuff once a year and it’s convenient because shoppers come to me. Eventually, later on, when I have a little more flexibility I will try and find a permanent location to get back out and start selling more regularly.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Love Me 2 Times Vintage story. Tell us more about it.
With so many vintage vendors trending right now, it’s difficult to stay unique. So, I try to sell a mixture of items that appeal to a variety of tastes. Some of my favorite pieces that I’ve sold have been my hand painted vintage furniture. I also really enjoy reusing vintage picture frames for my vintage jewelry art. Probably my all-time favorite creation to date is a foam skull that I covered with vintage rhinestone jewelry. It was a complete labor of love because each piece of jewelry had to fit together like a puzzle while maintaining symmetry which was very tedious. Plus, I had to be on the hunt for vintage rhinestone jewelry in order to complete it. So, after it was all done, my hard work and effort were worth it because it was fantastic! Unfortunately, it was stolen from my booth in OB a few years ago which was a total bummer but that’s the risk you take when you put your stuff out there for the public.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m both religious and spiritual so I believe in the power of prayer, positive thinking, and intuition rather than luck. I know that everything that has happened in my life and business either good or bad has all been part of the big picture and I just have to trust that it will always work out no matter what and it does. The perfect example of this is the simple fact that here I am writing these answers to your interview questions. I have been waiting for you guys to contact me, I really truly believed that you would eventually reach out to me and here we are. This is not luck or coincidence, this is the power of positive thinking.
