Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Robbins.
Hi Jeff, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a passion for design, construction, and the way outdoor spaces can completely change how people live at home. Back in 2008, my business partner, Ari Tenenbaum, and I saw a gap in the San Diego market — homeowners wanted beautiful, sustainable landscapes but were frustrated by the disconnect between designers and contractors.
So we started Revolution Landscape with one goal: to bring design and build together under one roof. That allowed us to guide clients from the very first idea all the way through construction, ensuring the vision stayed cohesive and the experience stayed enjoyable.
Over time, we grew from small residential projects into full-property transformations across North County’s coastal communities – Del Mar, Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Carlsbad. Each of those areas has its own style and vibe, but the common thread is that people want to live outdoors – to connect, entertain, and relax in spaces that feel natural and timeless.
Today, what keeps me inspired is seeing that transformation – not just of the property, but of how our clients use it. We’re not just creating landscapes; we’re shaping the way people experience their homes and their communities here on the coast.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the early days, the biggest challenge was balancing design vision with construction realities. We wanted to create these beautiful, cohesive outdoor environments, but coordinating between multiple trades while maintaining design integrity was tough. That’s actually what pushed us to build a true design–build model, so everything – design, permitting, and construction – happens under one roof. It’s the system that defines Revolution Landscape today.
What’s kept us steady is our focus on quality, transparency, and local relationships. Working in coastal communities like Del Mar, Encinitas, and Solana Beach, we’ve built trust project by project. Those experiences – have shaped us into a stronger, more thoughtful company.”
As you know, we’re big fans of Revolution Landscape. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Revolution Landscape (www.revolutionlandscape.com) is a full-service landscape design–build firm based in San Diego. We specialize in creating outdoor environments that feel like an extension of the home – spaces that are both beautiful and functional, designed for the way people truly live here on the coast.
What sets us apart is our integrated approach. We handle everything – from conceptual design and permitting to construction and planting. That means our clients have one team, one vision, and one point of accountability from start to finish. It eliminates the typical disconnect between designer and contractor, which leads to a smoother process and a better end result.
Our work is especially focused in Del Mar, Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Carlsbad, where the coastal lifestyle really influences design. Homeowners in these communities want spaces that flow effortlessly from indoor to outdoor living – outdoor kitchens, fire features, drought-tolerant plantings, and custom hardscapes that look like they’ve always belonged there.
We’re known for our modern yet natural aesthetic – clean lines, organic materials, and sustainable plant palettes that complement Southern California’s climate. Every design starts with the client’s lifestyle: how they entertain, relax, and connect with their space.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is our reputation for trust and craftsmanship. So much of our work now comes from referrals and repeat clients – people who’ve experienced how we communicate, plan, and execute. To us, that’s the ultimate validation.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to help people fall in love with their outdoor spaces and spend more time enjoying life outside. Whether it’s a full-property transformation in Del Mar or a modern courtyard in Encinitas, we want every project to reflect the beauty and lifestyle of coastal San Diego.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is creating spaces that genuinely improve people’s lives. That might sound simple, but when you watch a family start using their yard every day – cooking outside, hosting friends, or just having a quiet morning coffee in the sun – you realize how powerful good design can be.
At Revolution Landscape, we’ve always believed that outdoor living is part of what makes life in San Diego so special. Our job is to help homeowners in places like Del Mar, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Solana Beach make the most of that lifestyle – not just with something that looks beautiful, but with a space that feels right for how they live.
I also care deeply about craftsmanship and integrity. We’ve built our reputation by doing things the right way — being transparent, staying hands-on, and standing behind our work long after a project is finished. That trust means everything to me.
Ultimately, what matters most is knowing we’re building something lasting – not just landscapes, but relationships. When a client tells us their outdoor space changed how they experience their home, that’s when I know we’ve done our job.
