Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Rosa.
Jeff, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My first real estate experience was showing rental properties in my hometown of Alameda in the Bay Area during the summer between my junior and senior year of college at UC Davis.
I started working for a mortgage and real estate company when I was in graduate school at SDSU 2 summers later. I completed my first semester and was looking for summer employment. This company was 99% mortgage and 1% real estate, but it was an opportunity to get my license. I had to teach myself the ropes with nobody at the company actually selling real estate.
After a couple years, I left that company to join friends at their company. Around the same time, I completed my MBA and we started Allen & Rosa soon thereafter.
That was back in 2007. Since that time, I’ve worked to grow my business all over the county. Today, my core focus is the Mission Valley and Del Cerro neighborhoods. I represent about 50 clients annually. I don’t use assistants, etc. I’m somewhat of a one-man band.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Having to leave the company where I started was a challenge. Personally, it wasn’t a good fit anymore. Prior to that, starting out, not being from San Diego, being 22 years old… that was a challenge. I never told people my age or experience. I tried to learn everything I could as I went along.
The real estate market crash was real challenge, but it presented an opportunity to assist a lot of people through the short sale process. Getting people out of a difficult financial position was challenging and rewarding at the same time. There were a lot of long days and long phone calls to the banks. I learned a lot, and given perspective to my business today.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Allen and Rosa – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in selling real estate from Mission Valley to La Mesa. I sell homes all over the county as well, but I tend to be most busy in the community in which I reside.
I have a great deal of experience in selling older homes that need work. Specifically, I work with a lot of folks who have inherited their parent’s homes and need to sell them. I provide all the resources for fixing them up prior to sale. A small investment, done correctly, tends to net my sellers’ a great return on their money. I’ve got the connections with contractors and other service providers that allows me to call upon them for my clients. I take all the hassle out of prepping the home for sale, and I don’t charge anything for this service. I’m very much known for being hands-on with my clients. I don’t use assistants, or buyer’s agents, or Transaction Coordinators… It’s a higher level of personal customer service.
I’m around that I’ve been able to assist so many local families with their real estate needs. I really appreciate the trust that so many people have put in me, and I try to run my business in a way that makes my clients feel like they’re highest level of representation possible.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As far as the future goes, I don’t see any big changes. My children are growing up and we’re getting more and more involved in their activities. Finding the proper balance between work and family will be a challenge. I feel so fortunate to have assisted so many families year after year. I truly hope to continue to personally serve the 50 to 60 clients on an annual basis.
