Meet Jena Crawford of Hot Rods and Custom Stuff in Escondio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jena Crawford.

Jena, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out my career in television and movies. After many years of having photography and social media as a hobby and I am a way to help others when they were on vacation I developed my skills and was able to seek out a career as a photographer and a director of media. I started my career and a photography studio. After spending so much time working as an assistant and photo editor I had gotten lucky to meet some people that worked at hot rods and custom stuff to where I was able to land the job as director of media and in-house photographer.

With this venture away from studio photography I have had Opportunities to shoot with magazines that I admire and respect as well as handover content for companies to create national ads as well as features in magazines. I have definitely found my dream job though it all started as a hobby photographing classic cars as a kid with my grandpa.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As any road to getting to your dream career it is never smooth and most times it is never a road that you thought you would actually take to get to where you want to be. As my dream originally did not start out as a photographer.

Hot Rods and Custom Stuff – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What I do for my company is I am the director of media which entails many hats to wear. I deal with the public, I ensure projects are up to date written and visually, I also make strong contacts within the industry so I can build positive relationships. I am of course most proud of my photography work and how it is sought after for other companies in magazines to be showcased within the classic car and motorcycle industry.

What sets me apart from the others is hard to say as for how can I say I’m more original or more talented or more driven I can’t say that all I can say is that I try to create content that keeps people wanting to come back and enjoy.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Reaching out to Jay Leno’s Garage and landing a build of hot rods and custom stuff on their show. Also shooting for fuel curve magazine is a highlight of my career.
