Meet Jenn Gerlitz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Gerlitz.

Hi Jenn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Shortly after moving to San Diego from Canada, I attended a couple of card-making classes and really enjoyed them. Having left all my family and friends in Canada, I enjoyed the idea of sending cards home for birthdays and holidays.

It wasn’t until March 2020, when we had to return to Canada to weather the pandemic, that my passion to reach out to people and try and bring happiness in a tough time really blossomed.

Since then, I’ve continued to make and send cards out so that people get a moment in their day that makes them smile, feel appreciated, or just so they know that someone out there is thinking about them.

I’ve also donated many cards to the San Diego Ronald McDonald House for them to give the families for holidays like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and birthdays too.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in making cute and sometimes sassy cards. They are oftentimes interactive cards that change or light up. I’ve done some colouring work that I’m really proud of because I can’t draw a stick man to save my life. I created a card with a digital stamp of a little deer and a bunny where I created the entire rest of the scene with colouring and shading. It’s a beautiful, whimsical scene that I’ve been told looks like it is straight out of a children’s book. I think my attention to detail and textures make my cards really stand out.

What do you think about happiness?
Making others happy or making them laugh. Maya Angelou said something like people will forget, what you did and even what you said but they’ll always remember how you made them feel. I believe we each have an obligation to leave everyone and everything better than when you found it.
