Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessa and Harold Vanegas.
Jessa and Harold, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My husband and I were working together for a group of high end investors in La Jolla doing their Acquisitions and Transaction Coordinating. We worked in the same office and absolutely LOVED the business! Fast paced, exciting, dramatic, great money! I started to realize that everything he and I were doing, could actually be done from home. At the time, we had a 4-year-old daughter that we had to put in daycare from 6am to 6pm due to the demanding schedule of our jobs, so being home seemed ideal! While he ended up getting into a different industry that paid a lot more (at the time), I stayed in Real Estate. I had decided though, that it was time to jump. I wanted to work for myself, and needed to work for myself, day care was too expensive and I really wanted time to be home with our daughter.
I loved crafting, so I just wanted to spend the day gluing feathers to cardboard and singing songs. But, obviously, I had to make some money. So, I convinced my mom to spend $1000 on me and I took the necessary classes, and became a certified Transaction Coordinator, a glorified word for a real estate agent’s gopher. It was something I could do from home though. So, I left the beautiful, clean, fancy office building with the free exercise facilities and traded it for my living room couch. I started the company with my husband in April of 2014. I woke up with a cup of coffee in my hand, rode my bike with daughter to her school, came home, sat down, turned on the price is right and never looked back.
I had built enough relationships over the past few years in the business to get myself started. Plus, I did everything I could, to email blasts on a daily, to meetup groups, to social media, just to get our name out there! I ended up having a family friend whose dad was a Broker and he gave me my first few deals to get my feet wet, it was great! After that, I had a couple of responses from my email blasts who decided to give me a chance. Since, I am so good at my job, those 2 clients have now been with me for over 3 and half years.
In addition to that, they are the reason my company is as successful as it is currently. My loyal, caring, kind clients have continued to refer me to new agents and that has allowed our company to more than double its income in 3 and a half years with ZERO paid advertising. San Diego has given me the perfect opportunity to be a local independent home-based business woman and I could not be more grateful. The word of mouth provided by my clients to other San Diego Agents has been the most crucial part of building my company. Currently, I have more than 20 San Diego Real Estate Agents as my clients. In the past 3 months alone, I have participated in over 40 successful closings.
We have also, recently added Consulting to our services. This service has allowed us to land a business relationship with a successful Renovation Company in San Diego. Being able to work in this city and be rewarded by the benefits of the relationships we have with local Business Men and Women is beyond humbling. We are grateful that our two young girls get to grow up in this city knowing just how lucky they really are. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our Business and our family in the following years,
Has it been a smooth road?
My husband and I have a hard time seeing ‘rough roads’ or ‘struggles’.
In our 10 years together, he has taught me about the Law of Attraction and encouraged me to keep moving forward. He’s one of the most optimistic people in the world. So, anything that did come our way, even if it was a challenge, was never too much to handle. We knew that getting to where we wanted to be, required sacrifices, and as long as we always kept in our thoughts that “It was all going to work out” it always did. We had financial ups and downs as most budding companies do, but my husband just worked even harder outside of our business to make sure that I could continue staying home to focus on the growth and stability of a company that had our own names on it, our own legacy. All in all, it has been the most exciting, therapeutic, liberating road we could possibly drive on.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Transaction House – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our company is a Real Estate Transaction Coordination business. Which means, we keep everything organized.
We make sure everything happens on time, we make sure every party in the transaction receives the proper paperwork. We may sure every document gets fully executed. We ensure contingencies are removed in a timely fashion, we communicate with ALL parties involved.
We are there to create fluidity for the agents, so that they can focus on their clients and bringing in more deals.
Additionally, we have a consultation side to our company. We have been working in Acquisitions and with Real Estate Investors since the day we started, so, the process flow is second nature to us. We are able to communicate with Investors, Agents, Wholesalers and Renovation Companies to advise them on ways to streamline their processes. With our consultation services, we have such a broad range of expertise, from Marketing, to Property Management, to Rehab Costs to Flip Opportunities. We are a one stop shop for beginning Real Estate Investors and Real Estate Agents alike.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
To say what I like Best about our city is almost as hard as answering which kid I like best.
San Diego is HOME. I don’t know how to describe it but, it is everything. From the breeze you feel sitting on top of Mount Soledad that just comforts you like warm blanket. To the feeling of sand stuck to your feet as you drag them through the grass in OB before you get into your car. It’s nothing you do in San Diego that makes it the best, it’s the way San Diego makes me FEEL when I’m doing things. I guess you could say it’s something ‘In the Water’
If there was anything I could possibly try and come up with that I DON’T like about San Diego, I would say it would be access to a train line or trolley COUNTY wide. I think that would be the only thing that San Diego isn’t the BEST at.
