Meet Jessica Pinney of The Oily Pinney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Pinney.

Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in a dysfunctional family and had an unstable childhood. Fast forward to my adult years, that resulted in me not knowing exactly what direction I wanted my life to head in. I tried college twice and Cosmetology school in Illinois, where I’m originally from. In the middle of Cosmetology school, I reconnected with my High School Sweetheart and it was inevitable we were meant to be together. So, we got back together after almost four years apart. My now husband has been in The Navy for going on five years, which is how I made my way to San Diego. I won’t lie, it was a huge change and with that, came even more confusion.

I finished Cosmetology school but still was unsure if that was really what I wanted to do. It wasn’t until April of 2017 when I bought a Starter Kit of essential oils from Young Living did I know my purpose. I just wanted a natural remedy to help with my headaches. But, I fell in love when I realized all the uses for essential oils and the harmful effects of toxic products that we all grew up on and see on every single shelf in the stores. We don’t know better, why would harmful ingredients be allowed into products and even food? That is what lit my fire- knowing that I could help others live a more natural life, one where they aren’t constantly sick because of the products they’re consuming and putting on their bodies.

Essential oils were so much more complex than I ever imagined, but for good reason, they’re powerful! Starting my journey with Young Living inspired me to change other areas of my life, as well. My mental, physical and emotional health. To be a source of knowledge and inspiration for others to empower themselves. It’s been two years and I have seen a great amount of growth, and I am still striving for more, trying to figure out what else I can do to help others live a more toxin-free lifestyle.

I have daily struggles of holding myself accountable and disciplining myself to do the things today that will make for a better future, but I keep moving forward because I know there’s a better way to live, & I want to help others see that, no matter how long it takes. My dream is to target women in their mid-twenties, but more specifically military spouses because I know this life can be hard and lonely, and I want to help other women find a sense of community and purpose.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say it started off very smoothly, you know, the excitement and passion that gets you started. But, with any business, there is always a ‘lull’ in your growth, and you don’t achieve certain goals as quickly as you’d like, which makes it hard to keep pushing forward. I’d say my struggles are just holding myself accountable and disciplining myself enough to stay focused and to know what exactly I should be doing to get where I want to be. But, the people I have helped so far and the people I want to help keep me going. You have to remember why you started in the first place.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Oily Pinney – what should we know?
So I am an Independent Distributor with Young Living, meaning I consistently buy the products because I want to and believe in their safe, plant-based products. I have an opportunity to make money off of helping others do the same, which anyone who signs up with Young Living has a chance to do, but no obligation. I connect with my current team and basically anyone who has shown interest in a more natural lifestyle and build those relationships to show my team and prospects that I care about more than just selling a product. Connecting with others and finding out their reason for why they need essential oils is my favorite! I have the chance to help change their lives with the essential oils from a plant. It’s so cool when that happens. Trying essential oils almost always results in lifestyle changes, because your eyes open to all the possibilities and benefits of these oils. Meeting new people and making friends is an unexpected bonus, as well. I plan to have more oily get togethers in the future to help foster a community and show others how easy it is to live naturally.

This is a lifestyle, and I truly want others to live a healthier, happier life. I am currently working on my leadership skills and how to get others to build a team and inspire others to make these lifestyle changes. I would say I’m known as the “oily girl” who knows what oils can help with what. People know they can always message me with any questions, which makes me super excited and proud. Young Living is known for their quality and purity of essential oils, which is backed by their Seed to Seal process. These are true therapeutic grade essential oils. I am honestly still working on the purpose and direction behind my own personal business, The Oily Pinney.
