Meet Jessica Seiders of Upfem

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Seiders

Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After my daughter left for college, I was devastated. I learned very quickly that I had centered my life around raising her and working. When she left, I not only lost my identity as a mom but I didn’t have any friends. I felt like no one could understand how I was feeling and I fell into a deep depression. In 2019, I sold my belongings and quit my job to travel the world. I traveled 17 countries over 2 years.

In Europe, I found my identity outside of being a mom,

In Bali, I went on a healing journey.

In San Diego, I found my purpose for creating a community of moms of adult children.

Last September, I started a San Diego based group for moms of adult kids (high school and above). The idea is to bring moms who are in the beginning of the empty nest process and connect them with moms who have been through it and are now living their best lives.

I have recently launched a business called Up Fem and continue to uplift and empower women, proving that life is what you make of it. I will be traveling once again to Central America beginning October 1 and will plan group and solo trips for moms of adult children.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey has been a roller coaster ride. Finding your identity and purpose is a matter of trying new things while both failing and succeeding at the same time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Upfem is a vibrant community designed to empower moms of adult children to embrace their strength while forging new friendships and finding their identity through both solo and group travel experiences.

What makes you happy?
Creating a community for moms of adult children to connect and make long lasting friendships while traveling the world and growing as a woman.
