Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Vieths.
Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a mom and a military wife. Sometimes being both of those things is pretty darn hard. When my first daughter was a few months old, we were living in a small town in snow country and she came down with a bad cold. As a Southern Californian and a sleep-deprived new mom, driving a crying infant through the snow to the doctors’ office was daunting so I started researching natural remedies to help her. A hot steam with essential oils, changing cleaning supplies, and lots of skin to skin made a world of difference. I was so surprised at the immediate changes, I couldn’t stop looking up alternatives for everything. Once I found Young Living Essential Oils, it was life-changing. I never wanted to do a home business, let alone a direct sales, but I couldn’t stop sharing the ways the products have made me feel stronger and healthier. When you find your drive it takes you places you never knew you would go.
Has it been a smooth road?
I think anything worth fighting for is going to have its struggles. The important part is how you work through that while being true to yourself. For me, selling Young Living was never about a business. It was a way to help people in my life with their overall wellness because I had found something that worked so completely for me. Not everybody sees it that way. I’ve gotten every kind of feedback from essential oils are modern-day snake oils to direct sales are nothing but a Ponzi scheme. But when I hear those things, I remember the people who have said an oil or a phone call helped them in a dark time or that snowy night when my baby couldn’t breathe well. That’s why I started telling people about this company, and that’s why I feel compelled to keep doing it.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
In addition to truly believing in these products, I truly believe in this company. Young Living has an incredible charitable arm, has committed to redoing packaging for the least amount of waste possible, and guarantees its products because it controls the process from seed to seal. And Young Living is always innovating. It now offers clean make-up, fantastic cleaning products, a complete line of wellness supplements, and it’s signature essential oils. Plus, as that military wife and mom, it offers me a job I love that can work around my schedule and my location regardless of where we move. I love doing good, feeling healthy, and not being tied to an office.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love sunny SoCal weather so we can be outside and enjoy all of the fresh-air activities and the ability to get clean, organic, delicious and healthy food for my family. I’ve had the opportunity to live all over the world and miss how polite Japanese society is, getting farm-fresh milk and eggs delivered to your door in Rhode Island, and the low cost of living in Texas, but SoCal is my home. It’s where my family is and where I’m glad to see my girls grow up.
