Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Jones
Hi Jill, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
People frequently ask me how did I get started in Show Business and Voice Overs. Hence, after more than 4 decades in the industry, I spent the last 4 years writing a book recalling my steps securing jobs in Show Business to guide others. My hope is to entertain and help those interested in ShowBiz. (available on Amazon)
My venture into the entertainment industry began with school plays. I was coached by the famous NorthWestern University teachers in Evanston, Illinois.
Age 16, I was chosen from over 600 people to model and work for Marshall Field & Co.
I did acting, modeling, commercials and voice overs in Chicago, Denver and Hollywood, CA.
Now as a senior citizen, I’m still acting and modeling. Recently seen on Times Square video billboard for women’s golf ware and on social media. I play the glam, goofy grannie.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life always has its bumps. I’ve overcome many. I’ve been healed from a dozen broken bones, broken heart, strokes and late stage cancers. But I’m healthy and happy again. The lesson of staying positive despite disasters is a good one to remember.
One of the most challenging bumps occurred when I was working on my Master’s degree in speech language pathology at C.S.U.N. in Northridge, CA. I was working at the radio station the night before the big Northridge earthquake. 14 of my fellow students perished there. CBS called to loan me their truck to distribute water and blankets to those who had lost their homes in the quake. Whenever disaster strikes, I’ve found many people willing to help others.
When I moved to San Diego in the 1990’s for more work, I had most of my life savings stolen and had to move inland. That turned out to be a blessing. I sold my home and took the proceeds to buy a small condo I love. I’ve been here for 20 years
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The bulk of my work has been doing voice overs for television shows such as Miami Vice, Magnum P.I. and Knightrider and I’ve appeared in a number of films and TV shows. I was a network anchor and had my own talk show. People know me as “The Billion Dollar Voice.”

I was given that name from colleagues at the National Speakers Association. That’s because I generated over One Billion dollars in revenues for various companies and cities. Much of that was doing legal narration for a law firm for the real Erin Brockovich.
Fellow actors asked me to help them with their voices, so I went on to study voice in depth as a SLP (speech language pathologist.) Then I coached C level executives who asked for help in giving speeches. I’ve been helping people with their speaking over for 3 decades.
Few speech coaches have the training and experience as I have. Many of my clients have had great success with their speaking and voice over work. You can read about it in my new book on Amazon,”How to Have a Showbiz Career.” https://tinyurl.com/Jill-Lesly-Jones
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people know me for my voice over work and teaching “How to Make Money With Your Voice” at U.C.L.A. and other colleges. Few people are aware that I’ve helped over 1,000 people find work and success by training with me in person and remotely.
