Meet Jim Tenuto of Renaissance Executive Forums in Rancho Bernardo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jim Tenuto.

Jim, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
For over 20 years we have helped local entrepreneurs, business owners, and top executives get their answers questioned. We provide a safe environment where these business leaders can work on their business, having other seasoned business people weigh in on any challenge or opportunity they may face as they run their companies.

In those twenty years, we have worked with over 125 companies. Only two of those companies failed. Many have transitioned by a sale, an ESOP, or generational change.

We are especially proud of our Key Executive Forum, led by Kay Christian, who also in the founder of Interim Partners. The Key Executive Forum Group is made up of key people inside local companies: general managers, chief operating officers, etc. Four of those key executives have “graduated” into a CEO role and now sit at one of one CEO/Top Executive Forum groups.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is rarely a smooth road in business. I left a high-paying position on Wall Street to start Renaissance Executive Forums. The first few years were financially challenging. I really didn’t understand business until I began to run my own company.

-Employees get paid first
-Vendors get paid next.
-You get paid last.

Please tell us about Renaissance Executive Forums.
What I am most proud of is the success of our clients. Two companies started with us with revenues of under $10 million and each had approximately 250 employees. When they both sold, revenues were in excess of $50 million and the employee count in one company was 1,200, nearly 2,000 in the other. Job creation. Hundreds of families who can now buy a car or a house, send their children to college, enjoy solid benefits, and retire with a more solid financial plan.

Creating jobs in San Diego County and helping entrepreneurs become better leaders and people. It’s a calling.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of them is getting my first bike at age 5. Mobility.
