Hi Joan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Who I Am & How Jo Stretch Began
I’m a physical therapist and the founder of the technique we use at Jo Stretch. Our method focuses on full-body stretching with a strong emphasis on posture and relieving muscular tension and contractures.
I opened my first studio in La Jolla seven years ago, and later expanded with our second location here in Coronado.
At Jo Stretch, we truly care about every client. That’s why I personally train all our team members to ensure each session is tailored to the unique needs of the individual. Our mission is to provide personalized, effective care that helps our clients feel better, move better, and live pain-free.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many hands-on businesses, we struggled during the pandemic since our work requires physical contact — but we adapted, stayed committed to our mission, and we survived. Now we’re stronger and more dedicated than ever to helping people feel their best.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
When it comes to risk, I don’t necessarily see myself as a risk-taker — but I believe in acting with courage, especially when challenges arise. As a speaker, I often share my story and encourage others to take action, even in the face of uncertainty. Trouble will come — but how we respond makes all the difference.
