Meet Jocelyn Dunn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyn Dunn.

Hi Jocelyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Jordan Catapano and Jocelyn Dunn are sister co-founders of This Girl Walks Into a Bar, a premium non-alcoholic mixer brand built on clean ingredients, hospitality expertise, and thoughtful product design. Southern California natives raised in San Diego, they grew up surrounded by citrus trees and their mother’s garden, an early influence that shaped their commitment to fresh, real ingredients and balanced flavors.
Before launching the brand, Catapano and Dunn operated a successful bartending business from 2016 through January 2025, when its headquarters was destroyed in the Los Angeles Fires. Over nearly a decade, they refined and tested their recipes at hundreds of events, using real-world feedback to perfect their formulations before bringing them to market.
Today, This Girl Walks Into a Bar offers an organic Margarita Mix, Organic Pineapple Mint Mojito Mix, and Organic Bloody Mary Mix. All products are organic, vegan, non-alcoholic, gluten-free, and free from artificial flavors, dyes, gums, and artificial sweeteners.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Jordan lost her home in the 2025 LA fire along with our bartending business three weeks after we completed our largest production to date for our mixer company. The fire also affected our largest customer base, two of our retailers, and several of our investors’ homes. We have forged ahead, with learning curves at every step of the way! The CPG beverage category has proven to be much more than just “getting on shelves”. We two women are also mothers, wearing all the hats of our company. This includes managing distribution, ingredient sourcing, materials design and sourcing, brand graphics, navigating major retailer online platforms, creating meaningful connections with investors & colleagues within our industry, overseeing warehouse inventory and shipping, fulfilling B2C orders, appearing in Podcasts, news segments, farmers markets, and charitable events. The list goes on!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re motivated by two things that shape every decision we make: being moms and building a business as sisters.
What started as us hand-delivering small, homemade batches of our mixers to friends and neighbors grew out of a simple realization. We loved entertaining at home, but we didn’t love what was on store shelves. So many mixers were loaded with high fructose corn syrup, artificial dyes, and flavors we wouldn’t feel good serving our families.
We believe people deserve better options. Food and drinks bring people together, and those moments shouldn’t come with compromises. We started This Girl Walks Into a Bar so families everywhere could enjoy clean, organic mixers for both mocktails and cocktails, no matter where they live. At its heart, this business is about creating products we’re proud to pour for the people we love.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Entrepreneurship is a commitment, and success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes patience and consistent dedication. We’ve found it is important to be open to pivoting when an idea has gone stale, and not be fearful of diving into unknown territory.
