Today we’d like to introduce you to John Beaudry.
John, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. We were surrounded by nature: streams, the Desplains River, creeks. I asked for my first garden when I was five years old. I love what I do, making gardens. It is my vocation and my avocation. I have witnessed, first-hand, how nature heals and restores us. It is my mission to connect people with the restorative benefits of the natural environment.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My biggest struggle was being diagnosed HIV positive in 1985. It was my garden that gave me solace. That peace is available for everyone. I am dedicated to creating green cities so that everyone can experience the wonders of nature.
Beaudry Garden Design – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Imagine and environment in harmony with nature. A personal sanctuary. A place to play. An escape from the drone of technology. It’s your garden, your personal connection to nature, your home. Create a place like no other on earth. One that speaks the vernacular of your architecture, your environment and your heart.
We are a licensed landscape contractor. We design and build gardens. We specialize in restoring and maintaining historic landscapes utilizing sustainable practices that are respectful of nature. We co-create exquisite gardens that harmonize with the environment, through active listening to people and place, thus deepening our relationship with nature and each other.

I have had so many people contribute to me. The late John Brookes, an English designer, taught me the history of gardening. Christy Webber of Christy Webber Landscape in Chicago taught me to dream big. Landmark education set me free to live my life as I choose to do so.
