John, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my entrepreneurship in Washington, DC. I started an event planning company. It allowed me to meet a lot of people in the nightlife scene. I eventually moved to New York City, which opened me up to the private club sector, and I brought my empiricism to the West Coast.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The largest obstacle I went through was choosing a location for our first club. I knew my thorough research would allow me to find the most eclectic location. San Diego was the perfect location with the amount of growth and opportunity. We felt it was a real fertile ground for this type of venture. I particularly love all of the tech startups and the amazing Bio industry.
Please tell us about your business.
The Gateway Advantage was founded in 2019 by men of vision to bring together business owners, entrepreneurs, and investors. We aim to facilitate a professional network environment that brings direct business value with a social spin.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The Gateway Advantage will be having our grand opening in the fall of 2020. In the next five years, we are wanting to open locations in Houston and Washington DC and eventually in London.
