Today we’d like to introduce you to John G
John, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
John G is a local recording artist, born & raised in Houston. Mr. G started writing and producing music in the early 2010’s for YouTube creators. In 2016, his first single “Get Rich” was featured on the Netflix series called ‘Dear White People’ season 1, ep. 4. Since then, Mr. G has created his own independent record label, released 2 studio albums, & worked with platinum artists such as ThatMexicanOT & Lil’ Keke.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Finding collaborators and like-minded individuals to work with has been a challenge which has led Mr. g to become self-taught on a lot of industry secrets. Another is cost to market; the production cost of master tracks, video production, feature costs and marketing/promo is a major obstacle for independent artists.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Recording artist specializing in music production. I’m know for writing & producing high quality sounds that are original, catchy, & creative. My most proud accomplishment is my first studio album titled “I feel like I died” and what sets me apart is most artists don’t create the entire track 100% on their own. So while my process takes a bit more time consuming, it’s cohesive.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To turn a thought in my head into a tangible thing.. or better yet having the ability to earn residual income from an idea you turned into reality is my define of success.
