Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Phenom.
Jon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began as an apparel designer for a skate label in Convoy in 2000. Following that, I crafted handmade jeans for custom orders worldwide. I moved to LA in 2002 to work for several labels and work up to Senior Men’s Director and eventually Creative Director and then Brand Director of the last label. in 2011 I started a YouTube channel to help others launch their clothing lines as I began consulting, In the last 18 years I’ve styled music videos, owned my own high-volume screen printing company and flown all over Asia for production.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Fashion is a rough business. I launched a brand 100 percent funded by myself in 2007. It failed but turned out to be the biggest learning experience of my life. I realized the things I was not good at and it made me refocus. It made a better well-rounded businessman and brand director.

I help people launch their clothing brands on YouTube channel. I also have an audience that are art school students who are looking to work in the fashion industry as well. Everything from design, marketing, production, and sales.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
A big project is launching clothingbrandacademy.com where I will teach in detail a number of courses that get into insane nitty-gritty on everything I talked in my channel.
