Meet Jona Aldana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jona Aldana.

Hi Jona, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was originally not into the idea of podcasts because it reminded me of talk radio. Growing up, my dad would listen to it when he would take me to school every morning; I always thought them to be boring and would ask my dad to change it. Friends of mine would tell me oh you have to listen to this podcast or that podcast and finally, I gave one a listen (Bodega boys). I couldn’t believe how hooked I was immediately, I felt like I was there with them and related to their show. Listening to their podcast reminded me of when my friends and I would sit around just talk nonsense. I thought, why not start one myself. And that’s exactly what I did.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The best thing about the internet is that you have resources at your fingertips; anything you want to learn is one click away. I did not know anyone personally that had a podcast, I didn’t have anyone to show me how to go about it. I have always been a curious person and always wanted to know how things are done or made. I also believe that if someone else can do it, why can’t I. Learning how to use the equipment, editing, and hosting my podcast was a struggle. I, to this day, still learn something new every episode. Being a one-man team has been challenging, but I know what I want and how I want it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I can’t say I do one specific thing; I do a lot of different things in the artist/creative field. It would depend on who you ask, what I am known for, and what time frame they knew me in. High school, I was heavily into graffiti. College, I majored in architecture and picked up film photography. Now I am known for having a street clothing brand, photographer, and podcast host. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I can do all these different creative things by myself. I am most proud of my podcast because talking to people has always been easy for me, and having open conversations with sometimes random people has been so much fun.

Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am always looking for fun interesting people to collaborate with on my podcast, local musicians, artist, and interesting professions. I am always looking for a fun conversation.
