Meet Jonathon Bruhin and Ezekiel Morphis of Body Salt in North Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathon Bruhin and Ezekiel Morphis.

Jonathon and Ezekiel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We both met through our mutual friend Phil. We were out playing darts and drinking beer at one of our favorite local dives. We all went back to Jon’s afterwards and discovered that we both made music, be it in very different genres. Once we listened to some of our previous work and realized neither one of us was horrible, we started working on our first track that night. We threw down a couple of vocal lines and started making some beats. Pretty soon, we saw the potential, though, and a couple of months later, we reconvened and spent a month locked in Jon’s decrepit basement studio apartment, putting together an EP. It was a whirlwind of burritos, beer, and some left-field musical ideas.

Since then, we have put out two EPs, two singles, and have played many shows in San Diego. We have recently been featured in reputable music publications such as Earmilk, and have been on indie radio up and down the west coast. Body Salt is growing and thriving, and relentlessly working to spread our music throughout the world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working towards a career in music is one of the most difficult things we have ever done. The journey is constantly a grind. You are always encountering doubt, negativity, and apathy. Building a dedicated fan base takes an enormous amount of energy, devotion and patience. However, we are infinitely grateful to be able to create our music and bring joy and energy to those around us.
