Meet Josiah Kern of SoCal Lifestyle Realty in Mission Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josiah Kern.

Josiah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Man, I don’t know if this box is big enough for my story! I am originally from Fresno area Visalia to be exact I lived there till I was eight then moved to Las Vegas I Grew up downtown Las Vegas a couple of blocks from the strip 17th and Freemont St. I had a rough upbringing a very abusive father and a step-mom who loved drugs more than her kids. I grew up in a two bedroom with nine of us it was not easy I remember being young and going to school coming home and picking up my little brothers and sister from school I would bring them home and do their homework with them and also bathe and feed them, eventually it became too much on me to go to school and take care of them and meanwhile my mom would be gone for hours and hours of the day doing god knows what and my dad would be at work for 12-14 hours.

So I got a work permit and a job at taco bell and del taco in the same parking lot! I wasn’t making enough so I was introduced by a co-worker to drugs and that’s where things got bad but I learned how to hustle I would spend late nights on the strip with my older brothers one which is no longer alive and with us. Eventually, I ended up going to prison for some mistakes I had made. I did two years and when I got out I decided I needed a change I moved out of Vegas with one of my brothers to Washington state and started to work again but I wasn’t happy so I decided to make a change again I moved to San Diego with my sister and started working at hodads for about eight years.

One day I took a look around and decided I didn’t want this anymore I wanted to make a change and be successful I could always feel it inside me that I had this potential I wasn’t reaching and that was making me angry and sad so I decided to jump right in real estate head first and I’ve never looked back I have to say I enjoy helping others in such a big way and help people make the biggest and scariest transaction they will ever have to make it is an amazing feeling I have big plans for the future and more of my story to share tons more! haha but this is a quick run down I hope I get this opportunity I have a crazy store that I think people can relate to.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Becoming who I am today was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Just the fact of changing your mindset daily took a lot of reading a lot of sleepless nights a lot of making mistakes and learning from them. Some of the struggles I faced were being dead broke! not having anything and just being happy and positive every day and trusting the process knowing that everything will work out. I have gone thru every single emotion pursuing my career and my goals the only thing is I did not QUIT when times got hard I went harder.

It was not smooth it was not easy if it was everyone would do it! Just believe have faith in GOD in YOURSELF and keep pushing that’s when you start to shine when you push thru the dark.
