Today we’d like to introduce you to Julee Vidrio.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Julee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I started doing my friend’s makeup maybe a year after high school. I also practiced on my mom and aunts on both hair & makeup. That’s when I knew that this is what I wanted to do and eventually went to beauty school at Bellus Academy. I loved every second of beauty school made friends with my classmates, and my teacher was literally the best shoutout to Ms. Yvonne! Now, I’m working with a wedding hair and makeup agency and I love it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, it hasn’t been smooth in the industry specifically beauty you really can’t get anywhere without the dedication and a lot of hard work. Sure social media makes it seem like a breeze, but a lot of people don’t talk about the hard stuff they had to do to achieve their success. For example, as a makeup artist, I personally feel the hardest thing to do when starting out is building your kit! I didn’t always have $40 to buy just one foundation. Some of my very first brushes I bought and used on my friends were from Walmart when I started.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Well, right now, wedding makeup is beautiful, elegant and classic which I love. In beauty school, it was the bold and creative stuff that I felt most excited about.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I’ve always known that I’m friendly and loves to laugh. I’m not the type of person that takes everything so seriously. I’ve always been the person that’s always singing & dancing literally ask my beauty schoolmates. I’m also a cancer if that helps lol.
