Meet Juliana Palacio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Palacio.

Hi Juliana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Thinking about the beginnings of Juli Palacio Accessories takes me back to my family heritage—specifically my grandmother and mother—and the love and great aptitude for handcrafts that always existed in my family. Back in school, I worked with oils, charcoal, and watercolors, and I always loved any kind of hands-on creative work.

However, like many businesses, this project was born primarily from a desire to occupy my mind and time during the pandemic; as a working mother, I also wanted to find a balance that would allow me to reconnect with the things I love doing.

That is how Juli Palacio Accessories was born—an idea centered on creating 100% handmade jewelry using techniques employed by our indigenous peoples for thousands of years, yet featuring modern, colorful designs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No roads in my life has been smooth; challenges arise even during the smallest trials. Creativity and ideas have never been an issue, but work and parent responsibilities, time management, and—at times—resource constraints have slowed my pace. My greatest virtue is discipline. Even when time is scarce or I am exhausted, you will find me creating pieces with needle and thread.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a business administrator, and for several years, I built my professional experience in sales and customer service. That period taught me a great deal about communication, organization, customer service, and negotiation—and, above all, the importance of forging genuine connections with people.

I have now channeled that experience into a new, passion-driven venture: creating handcrafted jewelry. I craft each piece with dedication, paying close attention to detail and aiming to create something that holds special meaning for the person who chooses it.

I take particular pride in having transformed my background in business and sales into a creative pursuit that allows me to express my personality while building something of my own. What sets me apart is the blend of my business training and my creative side: I don’t just create handmade pieces; I also value getting to know my customers, understanding what they are looking for, and offering them something unique and special.

How do you think about happiness?
There’s nothing more satisfying than hearing a customer say they visit the street fair solely because my stand is the prettiest and most colorful.

Each piece I create can take anywhere from three to six hours to complete; it is a handmade, artisanal product, so it brings me joy to create with my own hands and watch an idea transform into a piece of jewelry. I truly enjoy the creative process and the knowledge that someone might feel special wearing something I made with such dedication.

I also find happiness in connecting with people and gradually building something of my own. For me, happiness lies in enjoying what I do, continuing to learn, and having the opportunity to share my creativity with others.
