Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Reynolds.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first saw a reformer while I was in physical therapy recovering from an injury. I did not want to use it because it looked intimidating. That is when I saw the same scary machine on a reality show (I won’t to admit which show!) The rest is history, I signed up for my first class a week later and I was hooked.
I quickly realized Pilates was great for my mental health and overall mood and I wanted to help others discover the health benefits of it.
4-6 months later I committed to teacher training and received my certification in 2013. Within a year of receiving my certification I started my career with Club Pilates. Club Pilates is a fitness studio with approximately 800 locations worldwide. I have been with the company 10 years now and run 4 studios in San Diego County. I oversee 20 instructors, ensure the studios runs efficiently & properly, and I am also a traveling Master Trainer. I have trained instructors countrywide.
In addition to being a Pilates certified Master Trainer I am also certified in NPCP
(National Pilates Certification Program), TRX, Barre Above, Spin, and Trigger Point. Understanding and practicing all of these different techniques allows me to be a well-rounded fitness instructor.
I participate in a yearly charity event called Plank-a-thon and in 2019 we hit a record of raising over 10k for the MS society and in 2022 we raised over 5k for the heart association foundation. In addition, the company I work for is big, but the studios are considered Small businesses because they are individually owned.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part the ride has been smooth, I can’t complain. I am fortunate to have a strong mentor, team, and boss to help support me through my journey.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create safe workouts for my clients. Including, everyday full body movement with lots of jokes and humor along the way.
I specialize in teacher training, and I am sought out by individual studios to lead their teacher trainings and create amazing, knowledgeable instructors.
I am known for my humor, creative classes, and love of tacos. My clientele has been coming to my classes for 10+ years and never get tired of my jokes!
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
When I was early in my career, I did not realize that I would have such a wide array of clientele, and a huge impact on people’s health and well-being. I have worked with clients dealing with hip/knee replacements, pre and post cancer treatments, orthopedic injuries, pre- and post-natal, to the rare stiff-persons syndrome. The most important lesson I learned was that movement heals.
And Pilates is for everyBODY
