Meet Kaela Ferrara of Ignite Now Media in Mission Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaela Ferrara.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I applied at Ignite Now Media on a whim. I was entering my final semester at San Diego State and I had a realization that in order to stay in San Diego after graduating I needed a job! My degree and interests were and still are in media and television, so I sent my resume to Ignite Now Media – (a media marketing company with a real estate TV show that airs nationally!). It’s funny because the subject header of my email was “Kaela needs a job please.” Safe to say, my whim was a good decision because 1.5 years later and I’m still here and thriving! I began as a floor director for Ignite’s various studio shoots, but have since worked my way up to an account manager position, basically communicating directly with clients and coordinating their television segments. My promotion is still fresh, and while I’m still adjusting to it, I’m excited to see where else Ignite Now Media can take me! We’re a growing company, but it’s employees grow along with it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Juggling school and a full-time job is a struggle that I know a lot of people face, and with this job was no different. Being incredibly busy, I feel that time management early on in this company was the key to my success here.

On a company-wide basis, there have been challenges for sure. We grew (and are still growing) incredibly fast and experience what we call “growing pains.” Mistakes are made every day, and every day we learn solutions.

Please tell us about Ignite Now Media.
Ignite Now Media is first and foremost a media company. We have a studio and film crew, ready to take on any marketing projects that come our way. However, what I’d call the “crown jewel” of our business, is our television show The American Dream. We are known for this national program that features top producing realtors all over the country. This sets us apart from other marketing companies because for: 1) no other agencies are actually producing shows that air on CBS, Amazon and Apple TV and 2) there isn’t a show like ours that exists anywhere.

This show is building hype and recognition fast!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I was to start over, I wish I would’ve been more assertive early on. Being a young woman, inexperienced in the working world, I was intimidated by everyone! Confidence has led me further than I would’ve ever expected. You don’t get very far without asking for opportunities, and I started asking too late.
