Meet Karina Parikh of Stick 2 You in Carmel Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina Parikh.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Karina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I launched Stick 2 You about a year ago now in an effort to promote teen wellness and spread positivity. As a current high school student myself, I understand all of the stresses and pressures that can go through a teenage mind during this stage of their life. I wanted to create a practical and stylish approach to remind teenagers and others to 1) stick to their own journey and 2) appreciate their self-value and self-worth. After noticing a common trend to decorate personal belongings with stickers, I thought it would be a fun twist to add uplifting messages on each sticker. So now, I currently sell seven styles of stickers, each with different encouraging words on them! With the proceeds, I host wellness events and my very own Stick 2 You podcast. The first virtual teen wellness series took place in April and May of this year, and it provided a way for teenagers across the world to connect and bond during these unprecedented times. We talked about all sorts of topics ranging from our favorite Netflix shows to our quarantine activities and top tips for staying productive and motivated in this “new norm.” We had three certified life coaches also join the group meeting to share their tips and insight on staying well and navigating challenging times like these. In July, I started the Stick 2 You podcast, which aims to promote mental health awareness, wellness, and self-care! The mission of the podcast is to encourage others to live a healthy and fulfilling style and hopefully bring a smile out on someone’s face. For each episode, I am joined by a special guest, either another young adult or a professional, to share their inspirational story and to discuss their perspectives on wellness and mental health. It has been so fun and rewarding to develop Stick 2 You this past year, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting an enterprise is never easy! I absolutely love working on Stick 2 You projects, but oftentimes things don’t go our way and we have to make pivots. My initial plan with the proceeds of the Stick 2 You stickers was to host an in-person wellness event in San Diego. However, due to the pandemic, this, unfortunately, was not possible. So instead, I transitioned the in-person wellness event to a virtual teen wellness series, which turned out to be such a great experience! It was definitely a big silver-lining, and it presented an opportunity to hear teens’ perspectives from all over the world. One of the setbacks to hosting a virtual teen wellness series was that sometimes people would have to miss out because they had conflicting events.

For this reason, I launched the Stick 2 You podcast! I wanted to continue facilitating meaningful conversations but in a platform that made it more personal and that could be listened to at one’s leisure. With this experience, I have discovered that our “struggles” can actually be transformed into extraordinary innovations and opportunities.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Stick 2 You specializes in selling uplifting stickers, hosting wellness events, and podcasting. Stick 2 You aims to normalize and destigmatize conversations surrounding wellness and mental health. We provide daily reminders to value one’s self-worth through our stickers and podcast. Something that sets Stick 2 You apart is that everything is made by a teen for a teen!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
San Diego is a fantastic city, and I am so grateful to grow up here! I believe San Diego is the perfect place to pursue your entrepreneurial ventures. I would not have been able to do any of this without the outstanding support of mentors, friends, and family. I was so fortunate to be able to launch Stick 2 You through a teen entrepreneurship program that I participated in called Whatever It Takes. This amazing support system has encouraged me to continue to envision and brainstorm new ideas. By living and networking in San Diego, I was able to meet many inspiring guests and teenagers who joined me on the podcast and have supported Stick 2 You. It has been so awesome and definitely a highlight to connect with so many great people!
