Meet Karlin Vance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karlin Vance.

Karlin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Funny story, I started flipping & renovating at the age of 17. I was gifted my grandmother’s house when she passed away and saw it as a great opportunity to put my passion to work and fix it up and sell it. From there, I continued to roll over my profits into the purchase and sale of several homes.

I think what sets me apart from the standard flippers is that I love to retain the character of an old home while adding modern features. I’m always on the hunt for an original home that I can make my own. In addition to flipping homes, I also do design & staging work for clients as well.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Is it ever a smooth road? Since the beginning of 2019, I had always done my flips & design work on the side of my daily career in government communications. It was so hard trying to maintain my design passion, a 60+ hour work week and a family with three kids under five. We have had some major family and life struggles throughout this process that have taught me to always pursue my passion and never settle.

Please tell us more about your work.
So in addition to renovating & flipping homes, I do a lot of client work on the side from designing kitchens to staging homes to prepare them for sale. That’s one thing I have been focusing on lately and is so fun for me. I love being able to walk into a home and instantly see its potential. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful team of realtors and contractors by my side to help our clients get the best return on their sales!

I think what sets me apart from other companies is that I truly care about client’s homes. I love every tiny detail in the architecture and try to preserve as much of it as respect to the home and all it’s provided its owners. I think that’s part of the reason I am so proud of what I do. That and the fact that I have managed to build this company with three kids needing my constant attention!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have listened to my gut 10 years ago when I wanted to quit my safe government job and start my full-time design career then. Either way, I am so thankful I made the jump. I could not be happier doing what I love every single day.
