Meet Katelynn (Kiki) Hardee of Vista, Ca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelynn (Kiki) Hardee.

Katelynn (Kiki) Hardee

Hi Katelynn (Kiki), we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Katelynn (Kiki), a student at Breeze Hill Elementary, overheard a conversation at school about a parent struggling to pay for after-school care. Concerned about her fellow “Coyotes” having “grumbling tummies,” Kiki began asking questions and wanted to help. She decided to set up a hot cocoa and cookie stand, with the money raised going towards paying off any lunch debt at Breeze Hill.

The result? Kiki’s Kindness Project, with the support of the community, raised enough money to not only pay off the school’s lunch debt but also that of the entire district! Her story went on national television and inspired countless others across the nation, even leading to the State of California eliminating school lunch costs altogether.

Katelynn has been fortunate to receive strong community support, including from Hormel Foods. She was featured on the “Little Kids, Big Hearts” podcast and became the youngest recipient of the Women of Impact Awards: Young Leader by Assembly Member Tasha Boerner Horvath, District 76, in 2022.

We believe a kinder world is possible, and we are dedicated to creating a positive impact in our community. By working on one project at a time, we strive to inspire people to choose kindness and foster unity. Together, we can make a difference because kindness matters!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No obstacles, just a mom-and-daughter duo (with support from brother and dad) working together to make a difference in our community.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our Mission: To inspire people to choose kindness, and bring communities together.

Who WE are: We believe a kinder world is possible, and we are here to help make a ripple in our community. Wanna join?
