Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Tran.
Hi Kathy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2020, Covid hit literally a week before my birthday. It was definitely a strange time and finances were tough. I created a home base business called Puffs SD making cream puffs. Within one month I was recognized by Eater SD and honored to have an article about my journey and how Puffs SD was born. My following grew and I’ve had amazing repeat customers and awesome support from the local community and people visiting our beautiful city.
Fast forward, in 2021 I stepped into the real estate industry. I was given the amazing opportunity to become an account Manager for HomeGuard HomeWarranty. I quickly moved up the ladder and with two promotions later, as of August 1st I was officially announced as the Regional Sales Manager. I’ve always had a genuine passion to find solutions and help people. I’ve been truly honored to work with all the realtors throughout my career. They’ve trusted me to take care of them and their clients. They are a huge part of my success and I’m truly thankful. Now, I’m excited and proud to pass along the torch to the next Account Manager, Pamela Estrada. So get ready San Diego!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve had to learn to pick and choose my battles. Not all relationships are created equal. I always try to give it my 1000% yes one thousand percent! but I’ve also learned you can’t win it all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I feel like I have 2 sides. The baking side, aka Kathy Puffs and the home warranty side haha aka “Kat for home warranty” I could actually say I’m proud of both. There’s one common ingredient (pun intended), and that’s passion!
Every customer when it comes to Puffs SD, knows how much flavor I pack into a bite. But it’s not just about the flavor it’s also the texture. I have so much passion with creating something beautiful and tasty. There’s no second guessing when it comes to flavors. Also, I get this comment a lot, “it’s not too sweet. It’s just right!” I love my sweets but I was also getting tired of eating things that were just too sweet and lacked flavor. So when I’m creating flavors I think of how I would want it to taste like. I’m also known for piping or filling the puffs fresh right before pickup. Can I fill them up in advance? Probably. But why do that when it can be fresh!
When it comes to home ownership, there’s so many elements involved during the process. Then there’s also the after thought. What happens if you move into a home and something stops functioning due to normal wear and tear. And thank goodness most of the time a home warranty is negotiated into the contract. It helps provide a peace of mind for the home buyers. It’s protection against unexpected costs. As a first time home owner, trust me, I get it. We all need something to fall on. My passion is providing help and finding solutions to give some type of relief. But it’s also up to a home warranty company to help explain the coverage. And that’s where my HomeGuard HomeWarranty family comes in.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I think everyone has a hurdle in their life. I definitely had one growing up. But how I chose to deal with it was a decision I had to make for myself. Do I let what happened affect me and my future, or do I change my thought process and win for me? Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had times where I wanted to give up and cried from dusk till dawn. But enough was enough. I wanted it…. I needed it for me! My motto “game of life” I choose to win! It’s my life and I get to control it.
