Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Patterson.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
With love from Katie started out as just a thought. I almost didn’t move forward with actually taking the leap into starting my own business. I had never done metal stamping before in my life, but I knew I love the style jewelry and found myself obsessed with bar necklaces and purchasing them as gifts. I convinced my husband to let me invest in a few tools to get started and starting practicing. After lots of wasted material and frustration, I finally was able to hammer out a bar that I was actually proud of. After that, I knew I had something special. I began making custom jewelry for family and friends and then really started doing my homework on building a brand and my own unique style.
Please tell us about your art.
I create hand stamped custom jewelry. Each letter is done one by one without any fancy tools or machines. Just a hammer and metal letter stamps. My message is that perfectly imperfect is ok. Everyone is just as unique and different as the jewelry they ask me to create. I hope people take away that handmade is still good. Quality still exist and doesn’t have to be mass produced. I think the small business craze is booming right now and that makes me so happy. I hope everyone knows that each order that comes to with love from Katie is never taken for granted. I treat each order as if it were my own. If I wouldn’t love it, I wouldn’t send it out. You can’t get that anywhere else.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
My advice would be to know your worth. You are just as good as the businesses that have a way bigger audience, a way bigger following, and have been around longer. Don’t be afraid to be told no. Take risks and put yourself out there.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Social media has been such an awesome platform for me and my little business. I started this company back in Feb 2017 and have made thousands of necklaces and bracelets. All from the access Instagram and Facebook have given me. You can even shop in person in a local boutique inside New Life Ultrasound in Murrieta, CA. My latest accomplishment is to have my jewelry in a subscription box called, Hello Ms. CEO. So much in the works for 2019 as well!
