Today we’d like to introduce you to Karla Duenas.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Karla. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve had a strong interest and passion for skincare since I was a young girl. I’ve always loved the feeling of keeping my skin well hydrated. I’ve always stood by my quote, “Skin Is Your Best Accessory.” The idea that if you practice a daily face regiment and be consistent with it you can maintain glowing skin.
I’ve been an Esthetician focussed primarily on skincare and eyebrow treatments for the last 18 years. Making skin glow and shaping the perfect brow is my game. Throughout the years I’ve invested in outside training and courses to keep my knowledge fresh and up to date. I currently operate out of my own studio, KD Skin, located in Bankers Hill inside the historic “Old Fire Station building.”
My most recent passion is refining my microblading skills (semi-permanent eyebrow treatment). I trained under Anastasia of Beverly Hills and worked for them early in my career, which perfected my brow art. I take great pride in knowing how to properly shape a brow and love leaving my clients feeling confident with their new look.
I look forward to building my business in Bankers Hill, gaining new clients and keeping them looking youthful and beautiful for years to come.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest challenge was working out of spaces/businesses that weren’t doing things the way I believed in or treating clientele like they should be. I wasn’t happy going to work. Starting my own business is what allowed me to practice my own style, create the environment & space I desired and ultimately gain long-term relationships with clients. Even then starting your business is always a challenge and takes time.

KD Skin is known for and specializes in skin care and eyebrow shaping & microblading. I’m most proud of staying true to my beliefs in skincare. I don’t mislead my clients to make a buck. I give them honest and direct advice to help them achieve their results. What sets me apart is my knowledge, experience and ability to shape a brow at a high level.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was a jokester. I liked to make people laugh. A bit of a goofball as well, nothing has changed either. I always enjoyed making things with my hands. I was a creative.
