Today we’d like to introduce you to Keila Ford.
Hi Keila, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started doing photography two years ago while in Nursing school. It was a way for me to de-stress. After class, I would go to the botanical garden and shoot pictures of flowers. I found out, I was actually good at it. Not long after, I fell in love with it. My mother told me that I had a natural talent with photography, and to never stop.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first started out my photography business, I was living in Michigan. It was very easy for me starting out, because I was born and raised in Detroit.
Since moving to California, it’s been a bit challenging not knowing many people. I definitely have to work a little harder out here.
Starting a business over in a new state is not a walk in the park. It’s definitely made me stronger as a photographer & business woman . I look forward to my growth & I thank God for the experience.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a traveling photographer that specializes in weddings & brands. Each session is tailored to my clients needs. I scout locations for each shoot and I assist with wardrobe if needed.
I serve from a place of gratefulness! Beyond thankful for the trust that my couples & brands place in me and my creative work.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I would like to thank my mother for always believing in me. She passed away from COVID a month ago. She was my biggest supporter and best friend. She will truly be missed. (Love you forever mommy)
My fiancé who inspires me, and challenges me daily to become greater. I love you!
I would also like to thank my friend, mentor, and fellow photographer John Gil. (JAQ’s Media Detroit) For always challenging me, and persuading me to spend my last on gear! 🙂
