Meet Kel Warner of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kel Warner

Hi Kel , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Kel Warner. I am a Mom of three kids who spends a ton of time at theme parks. My kids are Bailey (10), Phoenix (8) and Skyler (6). I’ve been married to my husband Rob for 12 years.

I have always been a fan of theme parks and traveling and my love for it has only grown as I’ve gotten older and had my kids.

I’ve been a Disneyland Annual Passholder (now called a Magic Key Holder) for 15 years and a Knott’s Passholder and Universal Studios Passholder for about 10 years.

Pre-pandemic I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher for the Fire Department and I was working all the time, usually at least 60 hours a week. I did that for nine years and it was easy to get burnt out from all the traumatic calls and lack of sleep since my schedule included more than half night shifts. I eventually left the fire department world after 8 years of being a full time employee.

Towards the end of 2021, after talking to a lot of different friends, family and coworkers, I decided to try my hand at social media and started a TikTok account. I realized I lived a very different life than most people and had a lot of knowledge and facts to share about theme parks and it was fun to share all the places we visit.

Outside of theme parks, we also love to build different things. My husband is incredibly talented and can design and build anything and everything. Our first viral video that kicked off my social media page was a video of him taking a white dresser and making it Harry Potter themed for our son’s room.

From there, after that first video went viral, I started expanding our social media platforms and I now run four different pages: @ThemeParkMom on TikTok, @ThemeParkMomLife on Instagram, @AdventureIsle on YouTube and a Theme Park Mom Facebook Page. Currently our combined social media following is around 200,000 followers/subscribers.

We also do things outside of theme parks, we travel frequently (usually to a place with a theme park). We go off-roading in the fall/winter and my kids and husband ski and snowboard.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think anyone who says Social Media is a smooth road isn’t being honest or hasn’t been doing it that long.

The problem with being on the internet and being a public figure is that anyone can say anything they want about you, whether it’s true or not. And once someone has said something, if what they say sticks then you can end up labeled or judged on things that are often not true and there’s no real way to change that.

People online will say terrible things in messages and comment sections and it can be scary at times, I’ve gotten death threats and been called all kinds of crazy names and insults. Online trolls will do whatever they think will work to hurt your feelings or sometimes scare you and unfortunately it does sometimes work.

In order to mentally continue on social media, I’ve had to accept that not everyone likes me (or the life I live) and be okay with that. My page isn’t for everyone, but there are plenty of people who like the content and lots of people who don’t.

Another struggle that’s hard with social media is you never really know how your videos or posts will perform. I can make what I think is the most interesting video in the world and it could perform terribly. So sometimes this means I spend hours editing a video only for very few people to watch it and then that can be disheartening as well.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I believe our page is known for a lot of reasons, but mostly for our love of theme parks. In 2024, I went to Disney 53 times, Universal Studios 29 times and Knott’s Berry Farm 12 times. I also traveled to Disneyland Paris, LEGOLAND, and multiple other zoo’s and themed places like the Warner Brothers Studio Tours in both London and Burbank.

Outside of theme parks, our page is also known for building things. We build our own Halloween show every year, we built a Tiki Bar in our backyard from the ground up and last year my husband built us really amazing Halloween costumes that were inspired by Fantasyland at Disney.

I am proud of everything we do and that we do it all as a family. I think what sets us apart from others is that our page is so broad in the things we do, share and talk about. I’ve never been good at just doing one thing so on our page you’ll see a variety of different places and things that we think are fun and that we enjoy.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love about Southern California is theme parks and the fun activities that are always happening. There’s always somewhere fun to visit and something fun to do.

I really don’t like traffic and unfortunately in LA, it’s a huge part of regular life.
