Meet Kerrie Ozarski of Reef Real Estate Services in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerrie Ozarski.

Kerrie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I formed Reef Real Estate Services in September 2012 with a vision for an exceptional, client-driven full service commercial property management company. I worked in the real estate management industry for many years and felt there was an opportunity to offer a different experience to Landlords and Tenants. I believed that the key to a successful management company was open communication between Landlord and Tenants as well as thinking like an Owner. I believe in bringing opportunities to increase the profitability of the asset for the client by increasing income while keeping costs low for the tenants.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road, but for the most part I consistently welcome all the challenges that come with growing a company, raising a family and working around the clock.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Reef Real Estate Services story. Tell us more about the business.
Reef Real Estate Services is a boutique commercial property management firm, which focuses on attention to detail in both management and accounting while providing our clients with a high level of service.

I have twenty years of real estate management experience ranging from small neighborhood retail shopping centers to super regional malls for Westfield. I truly enjoy what I do and approach each day with enthusiasm as do the other Reef team members. No two days in property management are ever the same due to constant operational emergencies and tenant challenges, therefore, problem solving is key to top notch management. Given the pace of real estate our ability to respond rapidly is essential. That is why our clients have 24-hour, seven-days-a-week access to the team. Whether it’s a maintenance emergency or a request for accounting data for a CPA meeting, Reef Real Estate Services is nimble enough to respond quickly.

A high level of trust develops between us and our clients, many of whom are like family. If a client is looking to acquire a new property, we will assist with the review of all leases, financial statements and third party reporting to assess whether the deal is worth the asking price. We do this at no cost to our client because our relationships are paramount.

Reef Real Estate Services manages a portfolio of more than 2 million square feet of retail, office and industrial property throughout Southern California, Idaho, Montana and Utah. I am proud of the company and our growth in the past five years. We started with twelve properties around one million square feet and we now manage over forty properties totaling 2.3 million square feet.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
When I started the company we were just coming out of a recession so I was taking a huge risk leaving my stable employment with a well-respected management company to venture out on my own. However I believe with the support of my clients and two great friends/co-workers willing to take that leap of faith with me, I did not have any other option but to succeed. I did not want to let anyone down and I wanted to prove to myself that I could make Reef Real Estate Services into a well-recognized and valuable company.
