Meet Kevin Albano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Albano.

Kevin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey as a videographer began as a hobby. Occasionally shooting videos here and there while balancing being a full-time kinesiology student at SDSU. It wasn’t until after graduating that I decided I want to make videography a career. Leaving Kinesiology behind, I began my videography venture shooting music videos, choreography and weddings. And as my videography and name began to grow, I continued to test the waters in several other niches in order to validate which field I would want to grow in, which brings me here today. I’m still continuing to grow and learn the ropes of being a videographer, production and business-wise. But the passion and motive to prosper within this creative space is alive each and every day.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This process has been a bumpy roller coaster. Learning the production side of things was not so hard, it was the business side of things that was a struggle. Learning how to negotiate price, personal advertisements and building a brand was a constant learning opportunity. Although it was hard the struggles built up the brand I currently.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I am a freelance videographer. I specialize in music videos, event recaps, and promotional videos. I am most proud of the journey and the things that I am learning each and every day. What sets me apart from others is my caring for the overall client experience. I want to make sure my clients have a pleasant experience from beginning to end.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I give credit to various creatives here in San Diego. The community that we built helped us lean on each other for advice, techniques, gear, and shooting opportunities. As creatives, we push each other to expand boundaries in our respective fields.
