Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Ehm. Him and his team share his story with us below.
Please kick things off for us with some background on Kevin’s story. As a 24-year-old, Kevin matured/grew up very fast. When he was a Junior at Olympian High School (2011), he experienced a defining moment that would shape his future forever. Kevin came from a middle-class family who provided everything a kid could want. He was the youngest of three and certainly was a spoiled child. Then, in 2011, Kevin’s father who was the primary bread earner of the family at the time, watched as his employer went under. Due to the significant reduction in household income, his family could no longer afford to keep their house. They lost most of their material possessions, and more importantly their bond as a family. Kevin’s father was unemployed for close to a year, and when he did find work it was in San Jose, California – nearly 600 miles from his family. During that time, Kevin’s mother moved to Mexico for more affordable housing, now that they need to carry two rental payments (Mexico/San Jose) and replenish any savings they could. Kevin chose to move in with his best friend who was gracious enough to house him throughout the remainder of his time in high school. This was a VERY challenging time for Kevin as he could remember crying to his father over the phone at night. He felt as if his world had been swept from under him and couldn’t do anything to control the situation.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for Kevin? Upon graduating from high school, Kevin used this hardship as fuel. He committed himself to an ongoing journey of self-mastery. He decided that he would do everything in his power to create a life by design, one where his family’s livelihood was not dependent on his future employer. Today, Kevin is the Head Productivity Coach at Keller Williams Chula Vista, with aspirations to one day coach in the National Football League.
