Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Adams Jr.
Hi Kevin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a kid growing up nothing much mattered to me more than my family, my relationship with God, and just my love for art. Creating characters, shaping a world of wonder and adventure was just imagination. I never would’ve thought I’d be doing it as an adult. Time flies. I am a child of 4, literally the middle kid but the first boy. I was named after my dad but for my sake you can call me KJ. I always drew things that interested me or were gifts to people I loved. Through elementary to middle school, I never had a strong friend circle. trusting other kids was difficult and made me feel like I’m making a bad decision. I had a few friends in the neighborhood but eventually just all there when I made it to high school. High school was the true journey began. Learning disciple, trust, courageous, fearless, caring…my mindset for the future was ready but to apply it to my dreams and career goals. That was the true challenge. I was told that me just being an artist isn’t technically or wasn’t being specific. It was then I decided to drop my color pencils and markers and pick up a camera. I worked hard and really grew to trusting people more. I undergone mental changes and growth to where it correlates back to my artwork and concepts. Pieces of my work has a much stronger meaning and storytelling behind it. Now, being older and wiser, the journey continues…
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve struggled with a lot of anger management, depression, anxiety growing up. I hated a lot of things growing up which also include myself for a brief period do to my image. I was pretty chubby as a kid and I would get picked on a lot for it until I got into fights. Eventually, I learned I got to gain some control over my anger and grow stronger both in body and mind.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am artist, digital creator, photographer, there’s a lot to me. I really enjoy creating concept arts for whatever it is on my mind. Some of my concepts are meant to symbolize one’s own heaven, a relaxation spot for the mind. Others are characters that helped shape me growing up. Cartoon Network, Marvel, and even some anime just to name a few. I’m proud of myself for evolving into the person I am today. A lot of hardships coming up and yet here I am today helping other people through art and even some motivational speeches. Whenever I go out for a shoot with professional models, friends, strangers even it’s all about the experience. The adventure me and this individual had shared. Some photographers are super serious and that’s great n all but when does having fun and really bonding come into play as we are being artist? Building relationships with others in the same field is super important to me. Sharing a laugh, a heart-to-heart while we create is a journey that can last forever.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Seize the moment, enjoy the little things and cherish those whom also cherish you.
