Meet Kevin Mijares

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Mijares.

Kevin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My interest in photography started in high school when I took a photography class as just an elective. After being in the class for a semester, I really fell in love with the ability to stop time and capture memories. So after graduating, I decided to make it a career and to focus more on sports which I had somewhat of a background in. Now I have attended college photography classes to build my technical abilities and create my own style. I have been freelancing for about three years working with different types of photography (sports, portrait, journalism and others). I continue to learn every day and look to keep growing my entire career.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far it has been mostly smooth but of course, I did hit the struggles any beginner would have from the struggle of trying to get my foot in the door to not having the necessary gear. I kept going getting better bringing in more money and being able to purchase better gear creating even better results.

Please tell us about Mijares Photo.
Mijares photo specializes in sports photography of all levels from the Pros to little leagues. Mijares photo is not limited to just sports; I also provide services like portraits, landscapes, events, and product photography. Mijares photo is known for capturing moments in history and for the use of colors in the images.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory as a child will always be being at the tailgates outside of Qualcomm Stadium. Waiting to go in the giant structure while hanging with family eating good food and watching all the other tailgaters doing their things filling up the parking lot. I have all ways been into landscapes and to get on top of my dad’s truck to see the entire parking lot full of cars and people is a view I can not forget just wish I had a camera back then.
