Meet Kiki Love of Infinite Love Designs in Lemon Grove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiki Love.

Kiki, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up being outdoors a lot, my favorite childhood memories are of playing with mud and frogs and grass and bugs. I have always been in love with the natural world. Growing up, I also loved colors and textures, art was my favorite “subject” in school from the beginning. I remember so clearly in my kindergarten classroom, learning to mix colors with jugs of water that had food coloring in them. I don’t remember much else, but that is so very clear. I think thats when I fell in love with color. I never forgot that red and blue made purple, and the red and yellow made orange. I went on to study visual art in college, exploring dance, photography, video, music, painting and most of the artistic avenues. I loved college and all the playfulness with this degree.

After graduating with a degree in Fine Arts, I then went on to travel the world to fall in love with different cultures and their colors, textures, and textiles. How beautiful to see the world as a giant piece of art, a tapestry of many colors. I love painting and mixed media arts and crafts. I love design and innovation, to put ones individual flavor out into the world, “To paint the town in rainbows”, my mom would say. Within my time traveling, I also found and fell deeply in love with yoga and studied that for many years, accessing my body and breath in a way that has changed me forever. Making and creating art took a little back seat, although its always there in all that I do. Permaculture came into my interest over the years and I dove into that for some time also, with the eagerness to learn about how to live in a more harmonious relationship with the earth, our home. Later, I found a curiosity in the primitive skills community. I went to gatherings and learned many original ways of making and creating with natural materials, deepening still my connection with the earth. I was hooked! This was the best of everything that I loved. Nature and art, and learning from the old ways, felt innate.

A couple of years ago, a dear friend of mine, who I met at one of these gatherings, taught me a beading technique that became a kind of meditation practice for me, and I couldn’t stop, it came at a time in my life when I needed it. And through this meditation, the mini protection pouches were born into the world. To me, they are a reminder to slow down, believe in magic and love your beautiful self. They have taken on a life of their own with their own mission and I am just trying to keep up with them! There are some new creations coming out soon, so keep your eyes peeled! I am most happy when I am being creative and when I am outside with nature. I love to see all the beauty that is the world.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been smooth really, I have been learning as I go, as this is all so unexpected. I never thought business would come from this. It has been a little challenging doing all the business stuff like marketing and websites and numbers! It’s a lot to all the things while trying to keep up with the demand for the product! And to still find time to be creative and developing new ideas! But overall, it has been so sweet and everyone that I am working with has been so lovely! I am so grateful. The community that is being built with the minis is beautiful and full of love.

What is your proudest moment so far?
My most proud moment is getting an email from Free People, wanting to set up a wholesale account with me. My heart I swear skipped a beat! “Wow, this is big time,” I thought! They were one of my favorite designers from high school even. I had dreams when I was younger of being a clothing designer and now a little bit of that dream came true! I get to have one of my designs for sale with such a big brand that I admire! I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with their buyer to create something special for their stores! I have been blessed to design with many beautiful shops and brands.
