Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristopher Kirkpatrick.
Kristopher, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As with any successful business, this one started in a one-car garage. Originally a hobby, Kristopher’s creation of the Resin River Dining Table went viral and soon, the single car garage operation expanded to a sprawling 4,000 sq ft design studio North County San Diego.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to success is a long, bumpy one. The key to survival is to continue believing in one’s self even when the odds are stacked against you. Perhaps the greatest struggle in introducing new designs to the custom furniture market is opening the public’s mind to new concepts.
Please tell us more about your art. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
My name is Kristopher Kirkpatrick and I am a furniture artist. I’m most well known for introducing the Resin River table to the American market in 2016. I’m specialized in building custom dining tables made of live edge wood.
My slabs are reclaimed and made from the highest grade material in the world. The quality of my material, attention to detail and innovative designs such as my Resin River Table and Air Canyon Table are what set me apart from the competition.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up in Florence, Italy I was exposed to world-class art, architecture, and design. My mother being an art history fanatic and my father an intellect with a talent for handcrafting; I was destined to be creative. Often seeing the world in a different light has long been by gift as well as my curse.
Connecting dots others can’t see and bring ideas to life is a personality trait that I never grew out of. If my childhood taught me one thing, it is that you cannot expect a “normal” person to understand anything that lies out of the ordinary until you create it.
