Meet Krisztina Scheeff of KS Nature Photography in Escondido

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krisztina Scheeff.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up in Hungary as a young teenager I spent my summers hiking, camping and learning about nature, wildlife and conservation. After moving to Southern California 20 years ago, I continued to enjoy and photograph the local wildlife and the natural beauty of my favorite spot, Lake Hodges in San Diego County. Today I spend my time between Lake Hodges and roaming Scotland, where I also offer small group ours to the Highlands and Isle of Skye for nature photography.

Being an avid outdoor enthusiast helped me fuel my appreciation for the natural world. My interest in photographing wildlife is to being able to share with others who may not otherwise get the opportunity.

My first experience with cameras started 25 years ago with those “old” film cameras. I’ve even developed my own film in my photo lab. Moved to digital cameras with interchangeable lenses years ago and settled with Canon gear.

Photography is an adventure, just like life itself. Come join me on this journey exploring the beautiful world of wildlife and landscapes around Lake Hodges in California and Scotland, United Kingdom.

I offer guiding, photography tuition, and print sales. All photography tours & workshops are suitable for all levels of photographic skill or experience. Both group and private, one on one sessions available.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a smooth road, lots of hard work. I truly love what I do :).

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the KS Nature Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
KS Nature Photography offers guiding, photography tuition, and print sales. All photography tours & workshops are suitable for all levels of photographic skill or experience. Both group and private, one on one sessions available.

Photo Tour Locations: Lake Hodges, CA & San Diego County as well as tours to Scotland, UK.

One of the most diversified location for wildlife spotting, including hundreds of birds (resident or migratory), mammals, gorgeous landscape and of course plants. Lake Hodges is a nature photographer’s perfect playground. During the year there are different areas to take photos from and different subjects, and I can help you achieve your goals especially if you are short on time. You can be a professional photographer or just someone who enjoys nature, you will depart with plenty photos from Lake Hodges after our tour.

One to one Workshop – Our time together will be tailored to your learning requirements and can focus on such things as camera controls, identifying the picture, how to photograph wildlife, composition, and image capture. Post processing can also be included if required.

Boat on the Lake – The best way to experience Lake Hodges is to take a boat out. I will be your trusty driver getting you in the perfect spot and perfect light for those awesome wildlife shots, including the Western and Clark’s Grebes. Two and half hour tour, available on Wednesdays, Saturdays or Sundays only, between March and October, when the Lake is open to boating.

Location Guiding – One to one or as a group, up to four people. Designed for those not requiring tuition but who want to save time and use local knowledge to get to the best locations to capture your own images of wildlife around Lake Hodges. Most commonly we will concentrate on three or four different locations. Walking required.

Join the Professional – Ever wondered how the professionals go about their business and how they capture their images? Do you want to find out and at the same time pick up a few tips to improve your own photography? If so, bring your own camera and join Krisztina to see how she does what she does best. Exact location on Lake & time to be determined the day of, based on wildlife activity, light etc.
Book one of these 2-4-hour sessions and you will join Krisztina as she aims to capture her own images of wildlife at Lake Hodges. She will talk you through her process, explaining what she considers the key points to ensure she gets the best from the conditions presented to her. Ask her any questions and try putting it into practice by her side.

SCOTLAND, UK – Wildlife & Nature photography tours to Scotland. Join Krisztina on guided photography tours to some of the most beautiful places in Scotland, Isle of Skye and the Highlands. We will explore all the amazing landscapes and wildlife. Of course, Castles and Distilleries can be included on our custom tours.
