Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Veach.
Hi Kyle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We’re Kyle and Kara Veach, pastors of Discover Church in San Marcos. Both of us were born and raised in Washington State, and for more than a decade we pastored a church just north of Seattle in Snohomish, WA. Washington was home in every sense of the word—our families were there, our kids had their friends, and we poured ourselves into building a church community we loved.
Then something shifted. We began to feel an undeniable nudge that God was preparing us for something new. At first, it didn’t make sense to leave the life we had built, but through prayer and a series of doors opening that we could never have orchestrated ourselves, God began to lead us to San Diego County.
With the encouragement and support of Daybreak Church in Carlsbad, a thriving coastal family-centered church in Carlsbad, we stepped into a new season. They brought us to North County to help bring a “Daybreak-style” church to San Marcos.
Since stepping out in faith, we fell in love with San Marcos—the people, the families, the potential of this growing city—and felt called to plant Discover Church here.
We officially launched on September 21, 2025, at Mission Hills High School. Our mission is simple: to help people follow Jesus, find community, and discover their purpose. Inspired by San Marcos being known as the “Valley of Discovery,” we believe every person is on their own journey of discovery—whether that’s exploring faith for the first time, rediscovering Jesus, or finding meaningful community.
That’s how we got here, and it’s the story we’re still living out—building a church that’s full of joy, hope, and the life-changing love of Jesus.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We originally planned to be connected to Daybreak Church as a campus early on in our journey, and so when we all felt that God was moving us towards a plant instead, a lot of details shifted. We no longer were going to be under the Daybreak umbrella, but instead, creating our own EIN, 501(C)3, name, website, staff, place to meet, etc. With that being said, we still received just as much support from Daybreak in this shift, but the details we were now having to manage were much broader! It was a lot! My wife and I making up our complete staff until a few months in we hired a Kids Pastor. It has been a lot of details putting together interest parties, park parties, and other socials in getting people interested in joining our team before launch, but it has been so rewarding and amazing!!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Discover Church is a new Christian church located in San Marcos, CA. We are currently hosting services at Mission Hills High School each Sunday. We launched on September 21, 2025 at Mission Hills High School. Led by Pastors Kyle and Kara Veach. Our mission is to help people follow Jesus, find community, and discover their purpose in a church that is full of joy and the hope of God. We are focused on supporting families and individuals in their faith journey. So whether they’re exploring faith for the first time or looking for a church to call home, we are built for all walks of faith.
What sets us apart is that we want to be a place that feels like home, is relatable to the everyday person, and joy-filled and welcoming. We want everyone to know that they are gifted and loved by God.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
We see ourselves growing, finding a permanent building, equipping and empowering leaders, and sending out pastors and churches throughout North County and beyond.
