Meet Lane Belone of The Inn Spot Community Acupuncture in Mission Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lane Belone.

Lane, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My life has been a series of small steps that have to lead to growth in all areas of life. I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma and joined the military at age 17. My first duty station was in Germany and that’s where I decided to join the Special Forces. I spent about seven years as a Green Beret and did missions all over the world. It fueled my love of travel and adventure. After serving a total of 12 years in the military, I decided to get out and pursue other passions in life.

My wife and I traveled the US, visiting 37 states over the course of three months. Enjoying all the different foods, cultures and people from around the country. After our road trip, we moved to the country of Panama to explore and get to know some of my wife’s family. After about a year and a half in Panama, we moved back to the US and I explored other areas of life, especially finding many ways to help military veterans.

My business partner, Steven Kuhn, and I run an online community of 14,000+ veteran entrepreneurs. Steven and I have authored a book called ‘Unleash Your Humble Alpha’, where we share our leadership strategies from both military and business. Steven and I, along with Jeff Ludwick, also teamed up with Guy Page of the Inn Spot Community Acupuncture, where we focus our efforts of treating veterans and first responders of San Diego. All four of us are military veterans, with a mission to help all veterans heal and step into their greatness.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No journey is without obstacles and challenges. Deciding to get out the military was difficult, as being a Green Beret was an adventure and working with other high performing men was a great reward. Plus, deciding to leave the mission of protecting the freedom and security of the country was difficult. Ultimately it needed to be done because now I can help many veterans in many different ways.

Finding the right way to help veterans was another difficult challenge. I’ve always had high standards for myself and tried many different projects and efforts. Many didn’t work out, yet I never gave up. I knew I would find the right people and projects, and I did. Much progress happened when I looked within and dug to the root of myself. From there, I was able to connect the dots.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
So many people have helped shape me into the man I am today. First, my business partner Steven Kuhn has helped mold me into a leader outside the military. Many military leaders, including Bobby Norwood, Jeremy Babcock and the men of ODA’s 0231 and 0126. Also, my other business partners Guy Page and Jeff Ludwick, who will help us take the Inn Spot Community Acupuncture to many locations across the nation.
