Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Diane and Jay Rebholz.
Laura and Jay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After years of professional dancing, I retired from being a Las Vegas Showgirl and Featured Performer for the Las Vegas Pussycat Dolls at Caesars Palace and was looking to stay in the entertainment industry. Jay, my boyfriend at the time and now my husband, and I decided to open our own model and talent agency. We had many connections within the Las Vegas community from our years of living in the city which included casino managers and owners, convention consultants, and entertainment directors. We utilized those assets and promoted our business with great success right from the get go. Ten years later, our business is thriving and we have opened additional locations in Los Angeles, CA., Scottsdale, AZ., and most recently in Sunny San Diego!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with most businesses, there are always struggles and challenges. Making our way through the recession was one of those times, but due to some amazing client partners and a minimized expense budget, we prevailed and survived with many lessons learned. Among those were to not overspend, keep a keen eye on your marketing budget, do not expand too quickly, and to remain loyal to your customer base and your employees.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
At The Platinum Agency, we represent over 1,200 male and female models and talent ages 18-45 for a wide variety of bookings. We primarily book our talent for conventions, print advertisements, promotional events, and film and commercial work.
A few years after opening our agency we started a female golf caddy division called ‘The Platinum Tees’. This concept took off and we began partnering with many golf course companies. As of today, we have booked our model golf caddies on over 15,000 golf rounds and over 300 golf tournaments. Our caddies have received world-wide recognition and have been featured on ESPN, FOX Sports, Golf Digest, Golf Channel, and Sports Illustrated.
We are most proud when we help our models or talent achieve their dreams. Getting a chance to see them featured on a television show or movie, in a music video, on a billboard, or on a national ad campaign is always exciting and at times makes us feel like proud parents.
We’ve always been most proud to say that our moral compass sets us apart from most of our competition, it’s been our primary focus and principal since day one; Honesty and Integrity.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Tempe, Arizona (proud SunDevil) and was focused on dancing and modeling at very early age.
I shot my first national television commercial at the age of 6 and continued modeling throughout grade school saving enough money to buy my first car and pay for part of my college tuition. I was fortunate enough to have a stay at home mother that could assist with driving me to and from auditions and dance lessons.
