Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Guss.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lauren. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started this form of meditation ten years ago at my University in Philadelphia. I had tried many things before being introduced to this form of meditation. I had initially searched out meditation because I had terrible anxiety that was interfering with my studies in Nursing School. I was on the verge of dropping out of college when this meditation was presented in my school by a lady who won “Lady of the Year” award from Harvard University. I was intrigued because I had tried so many different forms of meditation, yoga, and had read so many self help books but I still could not control my anxiety. Quickly after one hour of this form of meditation, I felt the anxiety I had been living with for years finally melting away. Not only that, my energy increased drastically and I felt like I was regaining the youthful and pure innocence that I felt had disappear as I aged. I was excited to wake up in the morning and had a way more positive outlook on the challenges in my life than I had before dreaded. I would take performance tests before and after each meditation session and I was noticing that I was drastically improving. I ended up acing many of my exams and graduated with flying colors! I ended up landing two hospital jobs within a year after graduating. I can credit the meditation practice to getting me there. I worked for five years in the operating room and according to Forbes Magazine, working in the Operating Room is one of the most stressful jobs. However, even in really difficult situations, I could apply the meditation method and not feel overwhelmed at all. Because this has helped me so much, I decided to pursue teaching this meditation, and put my nursing career on hold. I want to help people to see no matter how busy you are, stressed you are, whatever your current situation is, incorporating meditation will only improve your life and is necessary for everyone. Mental health is becoming more and more apparent, and I hope for many people to come to our meditation studio.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our meditation studio was about to close. It was not well known. Our location is hard to see because it is on the second floor. I felt the urgency to come and help out, so I left my home in NJ to help out the community in San Diego. It’s been about a month and a half and already our meditation members here have increased drastically.
Please tell us about your business.
Our non for profit business is a community, a positive one to say the least. We work on eliminating the ego mind, which results in a coexistent environment that is comfortable for everyone. Everyone works on looking only at their actions, and helping others.
For me, I work on guiding people to find their true selves and make sure everyone leaves with less burden on their shoulders, in some cases no burden at all. I help individuals to see the bigger picture and create a deeper and bigger purpose in life for themselves.
Honestly, I’m proud of our current meditators who are the foundation of our center. They have changed and improved so quickly and they are my happiness.
Our meditation will work for everyone. It’s unique. Our meditation method is practiced all over the world and many centers are filled at all hours of the day because there are results.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Jin who is another meditation guide here at the meditation center has been a huge encourager and cheerleader. She believed in what I could do for the center, and I am forever grateful for that. She has a motherly love that all of our meditators feel and appreciate.
